Character Information
Character Name: Roman Godfrey
Canon: Hemlock Grove (TV show with book touches)
Canon Point: Post season 1.
Is your character Dead, Undead or Alive: Undead.
History: http://hemlockgrove.wikia.com/wiki/Roman_Godfrey
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemlock_Grove
Personality:
"She regarded the boy: a narcissistic, insecure, oversensitive, and underparented adolescent heir to a Fortune 500 company with a substance abuse problem and homoerotic tendencies."
The above quote touches on many of Roman's most important and telling traits. Though gifted, he is a troubled young man. He assumes a protective role in his relationship with his sister, Shelly, and an unusually dysfunctional relationship with his mother, Olivia. At points in both series and novel, their relationship appears borderline incestuous. Roman's drug of choice is cocaine, but he canonly uses/keeps a large variety of drugs.
Roman has a prominent blood kink. His sexuality is a defining aspect of his personality. He cuts himself during sex in order to experience the blood, beneath his fingers, over his body, taste and smell. When he is jealously missing Peter, he's alone in his bathroom and paints his mouth with blood like lipstick
He looks down on those who are beneath him, and everyone is beneath him, though his insults leave something to be desired. He would argue that he wasn't oversensitive, but he does definitely have a sensitive side. He is jealous and possessive in his relationship with Peter. He and Peter share dreams, a fact about which Roman is notably sentimental.
He suffers from OCD, having an aversion to prime numbers, has an affinity for the number 4 and multiples thereof, would sooner step on a nail than a crack, can not go to sleep if isn't certain that every drawer and cupboard are shut, always enters water with his left foot, and always always unties knots.
Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses:
Roman has what is referred to by his mother as extaz, a kind of mind control that allows Roman to use verbal suggestion to manipulate those around him. Roman has heightened senses. He also has the ability to share dreams, notably with Peter. He has a sixth sense awareness of supernatural occurrences. Post canon, he is immortal.
(Roll with me on this paragraph, please:) Roman's mother has the ability to become passively invisible, as if transparent from the wrong angle, until such a moment when she wants to be seen. She also has supernaturally strong, the ability to regenerate after an injury. She possesses empathy as a power or ability, knowing what a particular person is feeling at any given moment.
From Roman's canon point, he has just turned and is a "matured" upir, and would gain the abilities that his mother has. He may not immediately realize this, and will definitely not immediately have mastered their use, but he will learn fast. It is noted in the novel that he mastered extaz incredibly young, and that in Olivia's opinion, was a prodigy.
There aren't any canon weaknesses to Roman's power, so please look upwards to the description of his OCD in the personality section.
